Let cranberry take care of your heart
Proanthocyanidins in cranberry have a properties as an antioxidant that helps reduce the risk of getting cardiovascular disease [1]
Cranberrycontains with flavonoid type of antioxidant such as Anthocyanin Flavonoids, Proanthocyanidins, etc. These flavonoid will prevent the oxidization reaction of Low-density Lipoprotein
(LDL) that caused oxidized LDL that is the cause of coronary artery blockage [2]
From the study of Yi-Fang Chu and team in 2005, found that extraction from cranberry 5 mg/ml can prevent the oxidization of LDL up to 94.7%, described on the graph (picture 1) with area under
the curved line, shows that quantity of hexanal that caused by oxidization of LDL. Also, 100mg of cranberry extraction has the effect in prevention the free radicals to oxidazation of LDL, compared
with 1000mg of Vitamin C and 3700mg of Vitamin E. [2]
