Polyphenol, the antioxidant

        It is a color pigment that is found in the common vegetable and fruit with antioxidant properties, such as kale, lettuce, tomato, onion, celery, lemon, orange, berries, apple, nuts, red wine, tea, chocolate and flavonoid. Eating vegetables that contain polyphenol may have benefits to the health such as maintaining the digestive system, help brain function and may prevent heart disease, type-2 diabetes and curtain types of cancer.

There are 4 types of polyphenol

  • Flavonoid, commonly found in kale, lettuce, tomato, onion, celery, lemon, orange, berries, apple, nuts, red wine, tea, chocolate and flavonoid in the form of food supplement.
  • Phenolic, commonly found in grape, blueberry, cranberry, red wine, peanut,  low processed grains, flax seed, and sesame. 
  • Polyphenolic amide, commonly found in chili pepper and oatmeal.
  • Ellagic acid, commonly found in berries and curcumin which is a component that is commonly found in turmeric.

Benefits of polyphenol

        It has properties as antioxidant, which helps prevent damage of the cells in the body from destruction of the free radical and also has properties of inhibiting inflammation in the body that might have benefits to the health on many sides.
